Ledvance LED Downlights

Ledvance LED downlights are light sources used mainly as general lighting for hallways, stairs or waiting rooms. Designed to be an instant replacement for CFL or PL-C downlights, these fixtures will be easy to install in your ceiling. The advantage of replacing your conventional lighting for a Ledvance LED downlight are the lower energy usage and longer lifetime of LED light. These fixtures consumer up to 50% less energy and have a lifetime of 50.000 hours. When replacing your conventional lighting, check the wattage, light color, and beam angle of your current lighting and use this as guidelines for your new lighting. For the wattage, check the "replacing wattage" of LED light to make sure you have the right amount of light with your new fixture. This way, you will maintain the same light effect after placing your Ledvance LED downlight.

Explanation

Dimmable bulbs work in combination with a dimmer switch and allow you to determine the desired light output. Dimming also provides energy saving potential because less power is required when the lamp is producing less light.

Colour Code

Explanation

The colour code is a combination of colour rendering (CRI) and light colour (Kelvin). The first number indicates the colour rendering (1 = very poor colour rendering, 9 = maximum colour fastness). The second and third number contains the light colour. Example: the colour code 830 consists of good colour rendering (8) and warm white light (3000K).

Luminous Flux (Lumen)

Explanation

The number of lumens (lm) is the light output of a light source. The higher the number of lumens, the more light the light source emits. The wattage and the number of lumens are not connected to each other. An LED lamp with a low wattage can have a higher number of lumens than a conventional lamp with a high wattage.

Wattage

Explanation

The wattage indicates how much energy a light source consumes. With LED lighting, the wattage is considerably lower than with conventional lighting. LED lamps with a higher wattage generally also have a higher light intensity (number of lumens).

Unified Glare Rating

Explanation

The Unified Glare Rating (UGR) indicates the extent to which the light of a product is blinding. This value differs per application and must comply with European standards (EN 12464-1). A low UGR value stands for a low glare factor. For offices and schools lighting with a UGR<19 value is mandatory and for public areas UGR<22.

IP-Rating

Explanation

The IP value indicates the degree of protection against the ingress of moisture and dust. The 1st digit (0 = not protected until 6 = completely dustproof) indicates the protection against dust. The 2nd digit (0 = not protected until 8 = protected against immersion) indicates the protection against water. Products with an IP44 rating are splashproof and products with an IP65 rating or higher are (completely) dustproof and waterproof.

Energy efficiency class

Explanation

Every bulb or fixture has an energy efficiency class A to G. Energy label A is the most efficient and G the least. LED lighting is the most sustainable lighting technique. Even if a LED bulb is rated E or lower, they still save 70% of energy compared to conventional lighting with the same energy label. Why is it the same label then? To motivate LED brands to get even more durable.

Why should you buy Ledvance LED Downlights?

Compared to conventional lighting, you save on average 60% in energy costs when you choose a Ledvance LED Downlight. Can Ledvance LED Downlights be used outdoors?

Yes, there are various LED luminaires in this category that are also suitable for outdoor use. It is important to take the IP rating into account. This says something about how dust and water resistant a luminaire is. Do you want to place a Ledvance LED Downlight outdoors? Then it should have at least an IP44 value (= splash-proof). Be aware that the luminaire may be exposed to heavy rain, and that water may then enter the luminaire. Looking for LED Downlights that are completely dust and waterproof? Then you need an IP rating of IP65.

How long is the life span for these luminaires?

These durable Ledvance LED luminaires have a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours! Again, if we make a comparison with conventional downlights, the number of burning hours is also significantly higher. If we translate this into a lifetime in years, we can take an office building as an example, where the lighting is on for an average of 60 hours a week. In this situation, an LED downlight will last between 15 and 25 years, depending on the number of hours it burns.
