LED Gas Discharge Lamps
What is a LED gas-discharge bulb?
We are all familiar with the traditional gas discharge lamp. Although this form of lighting has been phased out since 2015, these products are still available from Lampdirect in various shapes and sizes. However, things can be a lot more economical. And that is with the purchase of a LED gas discharge lamp. These lamps are also known as HID lamps. The biggest advantage of these LED lamps is that your energy savings can quickly reach over 70%! In addition, LED gas discharge lamps contain no toxic substances and are much better for the environment. Moreover, LED lighting lasts much longer! The various products in our range last up to 60,000 hours. This translates into more than 20 years for average use. Popular products include the TrueForce series by Philips.
Which HID LED lamps can I choose from?
There are several options in our range when it comes to choosing an LED variant for the gas discharge lamp, or HID lamp. It is important to know that there are several fittings available. The most common ones are the wide E40 screw socket and the E27 screw fitting. LED HID lights are also available from Any-Lamp with a B22 bayonet fitting. Where can I use LED gas discharge lamps?
A LED HID lamp is a very suitable product for, among others, the industry and retail. You can easily and quickly replace a LED HPL lamp and HPI lamps 1-to-1 for a traditional HPL gas discharge lamp in high-bay applications. This immediately shows that an LED gas discharge lamp is suitable for hanging at greater heights. And that's mainly because of the high light output that these LED gas lamps possess. Thanks to the bright and powerful light, they can provide larger spaces with natural and fresh light.
How long does a LED HID bulb last?
The lifespan of HID LED lighting is on average about 50,000 hours. There are also various LED gas discharge lamps that even last up to 70,000 hours or more. A traditional gas discharge lamp has an average life of around 15,000 hours. This means that when you buy LED, you save on replacing your lighting. Just think; when, for example, the lighting of street lamps has to be replaced in an entire street, this will be done less often if the lamps have LED lighting thanks to their longer life. This means, among other things, that it is less often necessary to hire personnel and a bucket truck from the municipality. You save thanks to the purchase of LED in multiple ways.
How can I replace a gas discharge lamp with LED?
First check what kind of lighting is currently in the fixture and what fitting the lamp has. It is also important to look at the length of the fixture. The dimensions of a gas discharge lamp LED may differ from your current lighting. So take that into account. Next, you are going to choose a suitable LED lamp. In that respect, also look at the wattage of your current lighting. Using the filter menu on the left of this page, you will see the heading ' Replaces (Watts). If you click on the wattage of your current lamp in that overview, you will immediately see an overview of all available LED replacements. So you can quickly and effectively buy the right LED HID lamp online from Lampdirect.
Which LED bulbs are suitable for street lights?
Durable LED HQL lamps are suitable as LED street lamp lighting for streets, parks, footpaths, pedestrian areas, and more outdoor applications. You simply screw the lamp into the base of a lamp post or other application and then close the fixture. They are also Philips TrueForce LED SON lamps suitable as modern and economical street lighting. This also ensures that the surroundings of the lanterns become more environmentally friendly.
Can I replace a gas discharge lamp with another type of LED lighting?
This mainly depends on the fitting of the gas discharge lamp. Many gas discharge lamps have fittings/lamp bases for which there is no LED replacement available (yet). The exceptions are the screw fittings already mentioned, such as E27 and E40. Incidentally, gas discharge lamps are on sale at Lampdirect as long as stocks last. There is, therefore, a chance that some products will become unavailable sooner or later. Another good reason to switch to LED!
