Can I save a lot of money by purchasing LED downlights?
Absolutely! Compared to conventional lighting, you save an average of 70% in energy costs. This is mainly because an LED downlight has a much lower power output (amount of watts). In other words, considerably less energy is required to achieve the same light performance. What you will also save on is the cost of maintenance and replacement of this LED lighting. And that, in turn, has to do with the longer lifespan, which means that you will have to replace the lighting less often. And because of the low energy consumption, the purchase price of an LED downlight is often earned back within one and a half years! Choosing these LED fixtures is therefore an excellent investment!
How long do LED downlights last?
These durable LED fixtures have a lifetime of up to 70,000 hours! If we again make the comparison with conventional downlights, the number of burning hours is also considerably higher. If we translate this into a service life in years, we can take an office building as an example, where the lights are on for an average of 60 hours a week. In this situation, an LED downlight will last between 15 and 25 years, depending on the number of burning hours! At Any-lamp, you can choose from a wide range of top-quality products from international A-brands such as Noxion, Philips, and Ledvance. We also offer competitive prices and a long guarantee period.
Which wattage is most suitable for an LED Downlight?
This mainly has to do with the amount of light you need. The higher the wattage of an LED downlight, the higher the light output. With LED lighting, this is expressed in the number of lumens. LED Downlights with 2000 lumens or more already provides pretty bright and powerful light and can therefore light up a larger area in, for example, a corridor, hallway, entrance area or in an office. If you wish to place the LED downlight in a smaller or narrower space, a lower amount of lumens will suffice to achieve the desired effect and/or purpose. Are you looking for an LED downlight for a shop or showroom? Then choose a product with a very high color rendering of 90-99Ra. This will put every product or object in the spotlight.
What should I look for when buying an LED Downlight?
There are three points of interest. Firstly, the beam (or beam angle) of the fixture. There are a number of options here, namely; a medium beam angle (25D - 40D), a wide beam angle (41D - 90D), or a very wide beam angle (>91D). Ask yourself how big the room should be that you want to illuminate and choose the desired beam angle accordingly. Furthermore, it is always important to take a critical look at the size of the room and the height of the ceiling. Finally, you can choose from several light colors/color temperatures for your LED Downlight. In the table below we have listed all the options for you.
Colortemperature/strong> | Features / Application |
2700 Kelvin - extra warm white | Enhances the ambiance - restaurants, living rooms, hospitality, hotels, theaters |
3000 Kelvin - warm white | Soft and neutral light - halls, corridors, counters, reception areas, canteens |
4000 Kelvin - cool white | Fresh and natural light - schools, offices, showrooms, beauty parlors |
6500 Kelvin - Daylight white | Equivalent to natural daylight - workshops, healthcare, laboratories |
