What needs to be considered for showroom lighting?
The right lighting provides the ideal stage for your products, but also has other advantages: it offers both customers and employees orientation and safety, for example through glare-free lighting (UGR<19). So if you want to equip your showroom with optimum lighting, you should definitely avoid distracting shadows and reflections. It is also important that you opt for lighting solutions with a high colour rendering index (at least 80-89 Ra, preferably 90-99 Ra), as this makes the colours appear particularly natural and the products/exhibits on display can be perfectly showcased. In addition, the selected lighting solutions should not consume a lot of power or heat up, as you will be illuminating your showroom almost every day for several hours at a time. We recommend LEDs at this point.
Not only do these have a significantly lower fire risk - as LEDs do not emit infrared or UV radiation, this type of lighting does not harm the products in your showroom. When it comes to showroom lighting, you should also bear in mind that showrooms are also workplaces and are therefore subject to the DIN EN 12464 standard. This specifies illuminance levels of 300 lux for sales areas and 500 lux for checkout areas.
Which lighting solutions are used for showroom lighting?
Lighting not only fulfils a practical purpose, but can also be part of the showroom as a design element. In our range, you will find a number of products that impress with their minimalist appearance. These are high-quality light sources from top brands such as Philips, Ledvance and Noxion.
With the following lighting solutions, you can put your products in the right light:
LED downlights: create diffuse light (this helps to create soft transitions and a harmonious overall effect); particularly unobtrusive; integrate perfectly into the ceiling.
LED track spotlights: spread targeted light; can be used individually for accent lighting and in the form of a track system as ambient lighting; offer particularly high flexibility thanks to adjustable LED spots (you can always reposition, rearrange and add to the fixtures); direct lighting that highlights textures and emphasises details; we offer a large selection of base colours - suitable lighting for every showroom!
Plus: the advantage of both lighting solutions is that they are easy to install and maintain.
What is the advantage of dimmable showroom lighting?
With dimmable showroom lighting, you can create a customised lighting mood in no time at all. A dimming function allows you to regulate the brightness of your lighting as required and illuminate different areas of the salesroom differently (make sure you have smooth transitions). This type of lighting also makes sense for a frequently changing product range, as you can always utilise new lighting scenarios. If you use a DALI lighting control system, you can even dim and control your lighting products together with others. With dimmable showroom lighting, you can also easily save on electricity costs, because less brightness means less energy - this is particularly practical if you want to keep your showroom slightly illuminated at night for greater security.
Tip: Use our practical filter function to quickly find dimmable showroom lighting.
What colour temperature should showroom lighting have?
With the right light, you can not only arouse emotions, but also have a positive influence on your customers' purchasing decisions. That's why you should think about the right light colour for your showroom lighting early on. We would like to help you with your decision with the following list:
- Cold white: radiates professionalism and clarity and also supports concentration and vision
- Daylight white: should be used wherever a clear representation of colours is important, as daylight white offers the greatest contrast between all colours
- Warm white: has an inviting, friendly, cosy and homely effect - is therefore often used for furniture
- Tunable White: offers you the option of adjusting the white tone individually (automatically or manually) - particularly practical when products change in the showroom
- CCT: you can decide on a colour temperature before installation, which can be adjusted manually
