Always choose a energy-saving bulb with the same cap/base, otherwise it will not fit in the fixture and will not work. Energy-saving bulbs with a 2-pin base work with a conventional ballast (EM) incl. starter. Energy-saving bulbs with a 4-pin socket work with an electronic ballast (HF) without a starter.

A ballast can be seen as an energy regulator that switches on the lighting. Is there a starter in the fixture? Then this is a conventional ballast (EM). The Philips CorePro PL-L LED Bulb EM/Mains 12W - 840 Cool White is the perfect alternative for a standard 24W PL or Dulux lamp that has 4 pins.
Always check the wattage and number of pins on your current CFL lamp when switching to an LED version. This 12W LED lamp replaces a conventional 24W lamp that has 4 pins.
