When I started replacing my light bulbs with energy efficient ones eight years ago, replacement for 100W bulbs were unavailable. I had to use CFL ones. These latter are nearly as efficient but take a minute or two to gain full brightness. LED lights come on full at once and are slightly more efficient (by 10%). I have just begun to replacing my 100W equivalent CFL bulbs with LED ones these past months. Judging from the 60W equivalent LED bulbs, I expect the same efficiency, longevity (10 years?) and convenience. Philips are a good make. LED bulbs are less than half their price eight years ago.
Cant say about reliability, but functionally excellent. I buy phillips as chinese versions fail due to poor internal electronics. No phillips failures yet.
