Outdoor LED strips
With outdoor LED strips, one specification is a must for cosy and/or efficient lighting: waterproof (IP65>). You can recognise this by the silicone gel cover placed on top of the LED chips. Be aware that your light strip will lose its water resistance if you shorten it, even on the indicated cutting lines. Are you placing your LED strip outdoors (5 metres or several connected together)? In most cases the required LED driver does not get in contact with moisture; it is often placed in shielded areas. If you doubt this, choose our waterproof IP65 LED strip drivers. Do you have a light source that works with Wi-Fi? You might experience that your garden or outdoor environment is so large in size, that the Wi-Fi connection does not reach to the far corners. In this case, you can install our RF repeater to extend your range. Our outdoor LED strips are available in a single light colour, in tunable white or in RGB with tunable white.

The colour code is a combination of colour rendering (CRI) and light colour (Kelvin). The first number indicates the colour rendering (1 = very poor colour rendering, 9 = maximum colour fastness). The second and third number contains the light colour. Example: the colour code 830 consists of good colour rendering (8) and warm white light (3000K).
The IP value indicates the degree of protection against the ingress of moisture and dust. The 1st digit (0 = not protected until 6 = completely dustproof) indicates the protection against dust. The 2nd digit (0 = not protected until 8 = protected against immersion) indicates the protection against water. Products with an IP44 rating are splashproof and products with an IP65 rating or higher are (completely) dustproof and waterproof.
